Picture this: I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Memphis, TN. If you know anything about Memphis, you know it breeds a certain type of person—fearless, relentless, and passionate. That's the spirit that flows through my veins.
I was raised by a single, strong, independent Black mother who gave her all to ensure my success—she still does. Every day, she showed me what it meant to be resilient, determined, and unapologetically myself. She taught me to reach for the stars and never settle for anything less than what I deserved.
Sports played a major role in my life from a young age. I was an athlete through and through, and that passion propelled me to college on a full athletic scholarship. I competed as a Division I track and field athlete, but deep down, I had a secret desire burning within me. Fashion design whispered in my heart, but I tucked it away for a while.
Life had a funny way of steering me towards a different path. It was during my college years that I stumbled upon Sport Psychology, and something clicked. I followed that calling, and it led me to Denver, where I pursued a Master's Degree in the field. The pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the human mind became my driving force.
But amidst the academic journey, a beautiful love story unfolded. In 2019, I married the love of my life, my incredible husband. And it was during the wedding planning process that I discovered a hidden talent and an unexpected passion for flowers and floral design. As I created the bouquets for our special day, I realized there was an artist within me longing to bloom.
My husband saw the fire within my soul, and he decided to fuel it even more. For my birthday, he gifted me a floral certification course—a gesture that changed everything. The pandemic hit, and in the midst of it all, I turned to flowers as a form of self-care. Little did I know that it would become so much more.
Creating floral art became my sanctuary—a therapeutic escape from the chaos of the world. Black + Blossomed was born out of this passion, a business that would embody the strength, beauty, and resilience of Black women like me.
I poured my heart and soul into Black + Blossomed, and it has grown beyond my wildest dreams. The impact it has made in such a short time has left me in awe. It has become a symbol of empowerment, self-expression, and the transformative power of artistry.
